My first sewing project – Tote bag

This tote bag is the first standalone project I have worked on since I started my sewing classes. It’s also the first item I ever sewed on my vintage Bernina sewing machine.
In order to get to get a grip on how my sewing machine works, I have designed a pattern on the front of the tote bag. It not only helped me to control the foot pedal, it was a good way to practice sewing straight lines. I didn’t use any cross stitch to help create this bag, but i hope that the interfacing I used will help prevent the edges from fraying.
I did make some beginners’ mistakes, but I’m still proud of the result. And I have a wonderful tote bag to take with me to my evening classes.
